Dear district 1 Community members:

A major theme that I have heard on the campaign trail is that Fort Collins is an appealing city that continues to attract many people. I summarize your concerns as ‘growth is a part of our history and a part of our future story.’

In 1970, our citizen leaders developed a campaign called "Designing Tomorrow Today". They clearly saw the need to address growth because the first line of their manifesto read - “Growth is inevitable, and Fort Collins is expanding at an increasing rate.”  Our lives are better today because they were bold leaders who did not shy away from tough issues like affordable housing, transportation, employment opportunities, cultural endeavors such as the Lincoln Center, and open recreational spaces. They addressed the needs and wishes of all members of the community as reflected in the projects undertaken.

I want to follow their lead and be the bold leader of today who sees our growth through a clear lens. I will thoughtfully and collaboratively work with you to ensure that our quality of life is maintained and reflected in our growth. My values dictate that I remain open-minded so I can hear you clearly. My two decades of small business ownership means that I have been actively listening for a very long time and I continue to be engaged daily to effectively run a business and thrive.  These experiences will serve our community well on City Council.

As a leader, I want to know what you feel. And I promise to ensure your voice remains an integral part of challenging decisions. It is my vision that no one in our community should feel they are left behind. My values will guide me to make time to understand your concerns and represent all voices as a part of the conversation. Decisions about our growth should not be limited to the vacuum of City Hall – the walls, my friends, must be broken down.

Throughout the campaign, I have worked diligently to communicate why I am the right choice for right now.  I have a clear vision for Fort Collins that includes optimal, sustainable health for the community for the next forty years. Curiosity fuels my personal fire to remain vigilant for our community. We need to intentionally grow our community with leadership that is ready to meet all future demands. This is why I believe I am the right voice, and choice, for right now!
